Chris Columbus (better known for directing children's movies like "Home Alone" and "Harry Potter") has brought us a movie that would make smile all the 80's kids and teenagers. Nevertheless it is also a movie that brings memories to all the geeks from that era, from reintroducing us to Pac-man to Max Headroom. That is not to say that the new ages are not going to enjoy it, but it is the same thing as "The transformers" movie, at least the first one, an 80's kid would feel nostalgic from listening to the music to seeing the character come alive, while the new generation is going to be as entertained by the graphics and fights as the other.
Plus any fan of "Game of thrones" will feel excited to see Sean Bean and Peter Dinklage starring in it.
Pixels it is a light comedy written by Tim Herlihy who brought us "The wedding singer" and "Big Daddy", and in this movie, he has used the same Adam Sandler formula, an average man with no ambitions who is put through an event that will change his way of life for the better.
And just as in England Simon Pegg is acomppanied by Nick Frost (The world's end), Adam Sandler can not be without his sidekick Kevin James (Mall cop), who do not disappoint in his well mastered roles.
Pixels is a movie for the family, which maybe could result in closing the generational gap between parents in children in the video game topic.
As a viewer and consumer, I do hope, this is a new era for Pac-man and Donkey-Kong.

"Tomorrowland" the new "Meet the Robinsons"
In 2007, Walt Disney presented a movie which didn't have a lot of popularity called "Meet the Robinsons" a cartoon that used topics like family, keep having ideas, and never give up on them.
Now Brad Bird, who has collaborate with Disney previously with movies like "the incredibles" "up" and "ratatouille", bring us again the theme "Never giving up" and "Keep having ideas"
As we all know disney will always give us an optimistic plot full of surprises, and it doesn't dissapoint on this one. But the whole surprise, although really entertaining is that the movie seem like a new "Disney park" advertisement, beginning with the central focus on the attraction "it's a small world" to the technology invented by Frank (George Clooney) and the villains that they had to fight with. Plus the american illusion that everything was great in the 60's.
As other movies have done before, like Wall-E, another central theme it's the planet. Something that the media hasn't stop warning us about. "Eat well, sleep eight hours, do not use bags, plant a tree, etc." and as "Wall-E" the message of the movie is "Do something, and never give up".
Casey Newton ("The first time" actrees Britt Robertson) is a teenage girl, who as any Disney character adores her father (by the way, why there is always a single parent home?), a NASA engineer , who taught her a little phrase that is the summary of the movie: "There are two wolves who are always fighting. One is darkness and despair. The other is light and hope. The question is... which wolf wins?, Answer: The one that you feed"
As Casey Newton finds a pin, she is transported to another world, where everything is managed by the latest technology, through the pin she meets Athena played by Raffey Cassidy, who introduces Casey to a middle aged man named Frank. And to continue with the disney clichés we found an older hero filled with bitterness due to past mistakes from younger days, so much like Carl from "up".Of course it's the job of the children to make this adult or adults if we take into account the father, to realize that we always should be happy and have hope. And although the movie does have a wonderful message, there is a negative message to be found, one of elitism since "tomorrowland" is a city were artists, scientists live. Where the entrance is not allowed for a person who gives up, or is not creative enough.
The camera angles were interesting to watch, although most of the movie we are just observers, there are takes when we become the character, or the object that the character is coveting.
The emotional music was written by Rufus Wainwright (Moulin Rouge and Brokeback mountain) which accompany the beautiful setting and costume design of "tomorrowland"
Even though it was sad to see an actor like Hugh Laurie having such a minor role, the acting by oncoming actress Raffey Cassidy was very well done for someone so young.
An entertaining ride to be enjoyed by children, and to keep growing ecological awareness.
